It is not practical for a normal individual do-it-yourself mechanic to tinker with the ECU at the bits-and-bytes level. Also, most people don't get it programmed for "various performance levels". Your right foot selects how much power to use, no matter what it's programmed for. The stock ECU is already programmed very close to the best possible
